Hello, I am Melanie Kiger. I was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. I graduated from Lynchburg College with a BA in Elementary Education Pre-K-6th and from Longwood University with a Masters of Education in Reading, Literacy and Learning. I also have an Endorsements in English as a Second Language PreK-12 and as a Reading Specialist.

My teaching career started in 2000 at William Marvin Bass Elementary where I taught first grade for three years. Then I moved to Tomahawk Elementary School where I taught Kindergarten, First grade and Fourth grade. I am now the English Language Teacher for Tomahawk and part time for Leesville Road Elementary.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Chris, for 21 years. We have one son, Jordan. The beach and lake are my happy places. I enjoy reading and traveling. I look forward to getting to know my students each year and helping them reach their full potential.
